Food has always been part of my story.
Growing up, some of my happiest memories were in the kitchen with my family — cooking, sharing meals, and bringing people together around the table. As I got older and worked in different areas of hospitality, I began to understand just how powerful food can be, not just for bringing people together but for how it makes us feel.
Between 2009 and 2012 I lived in New Zealand, and during that time my interest in food and nutrition really began to grow. When I returned home, I decided to follow that passion and studied for a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition.
While studying, I funded my degree by supporting adults with autism. It was there that I first saw the incredible connection between diet, behaviour, and wellbeing. I became particularly interested in how food choices could affect mood, focus, and daily life for people on the autism spectrum.
Working closely with individuals and families sparked something in me. I began focusing on helping parents whose autistic children were struggling with fussy eating. Those early experiences planted the seeds for what would later become FussEat.
Then life changed again — I became a mum.
When my daughter Amber was born, my perspective shifted overnight. Like many parents, I quickly realised just how challenging feeding young children can be. Suddenly all the knowledge I had gained wasn’t just academic — it became deeply personal.
I also realised something important: fussy eating isn’t only a challenge for autistic children. It’s something so many families face.
At the same time, I noticed that there wasn’t much practical, easy-to-access information available for busy parents who simply want to feed their children well.
During the COVID lockdowns, my partner and I spent countless hours talking about this and working on solutions. That’s when we developed the F.E.D. Method — a practical approach designed to help parents navigate fussy eating with confidence.
While building this, I also completed my Master’s degree in Gastronomy, exploring the deeper reasons behind the food choices we make and how culture, psychology, and environment shape our eating habits.
Throughout my life I’ve always noticed how strongly food affects how I feel. Fresh, balanced meals leave me energised and focused, while too much processed or sugary food can leave me feeling tired or low. But I’ve realised that many people are never taught about this connection between food, gut health, and overall wellbeing.
Today, more and more children are growing up surrounded by convenience foods and sugary snacks — not because parents don’t care, but because modern life is busy and confusing.
That’s why I created FussEat.
My mission is simple: to help parents feel confident feeding their children, understand the importance of gut health, and support their child’s physical, mental, and emotional development through better food habits.
Because I truly believe that when children eat well, they feel better, learn better, and thrive.
And it all starts with a taste.
