Gut Health Boosting Beetroot Falafel

Boost Your Gut health With Beetroot Falafel's

We love Beetroot Falafels, the colour alone is enough to set our taste buds alight.

But I want to share a little more about why these ridiculously healthy little treats pack such a nutritional punch!

If you're interested in boosting your child gut health you'd be hard pressed to find a more potent recipe.

Most people are simply unaware that Beets are jammed packed full of something called glutamine,  an amino acid vital for the health and maintenance of the gut.

They're also rich in fibre, which not only supports bowel function, but also helps "feed"  the microbiome (beneficial bacteria).

'They Acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory'

Beetroots are one of the 10 most potent antioxidant vegetables around. Any fruit or veg that is bright in colour, tends to be rich in antioxidants, and the betalain compounds, that cause the bright red colour in beets, have serious antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects making them great for protecting against cell damage.

So now that you know why we love the humble Beetroot here at Fusseat.com, let me show you a fun (and tasty) way to get them into your little tot!

  • 1 large beetroot or 2-3 small beetroots
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tin of chickpeas
  • 1 tsp ground cumin

Peel the beetroot and cut into 1cm chunks, place on a baking tray with a little olive oil and roast at 180*C for about 20 minutes, or until soft.

Drain the chickpeas and put them in a food processor with the cumin and blend until soft, put in the beetroot and pulse until evenly mixed through.

Then roll into little bite size balls, around an inch across and place back on the baking tray and into the oven for another 15-20 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!
